On April 7, a panel titled “The new geopolitics of Turkey and Libya” was organized by Insight Turkey in Tripoli, Libya. Deputy Prime Minister Beşir Atalay and President Muhammad Yusuf Al-Magarif of the General National Congress of Libya delivered speeches at the panel in which ‘political and social transformation’ and ‘foreign policy and constitution making’ in Libya and Turkey were evaluated in two sessions.
Insight Turkey held its first annual conference titled “Debating the New Turkey” in Washington DC and its second annual conference titled “Debating the New Middle East” in Cairo last year. This year Insight Turkey 3rd Annual Conference titled ‘‘Turkey and Europe: Drifting Apart?” will be held in Brussels on March 25, 2013. The Minister of Justice Sadullah Ergin will attend the conference as a keynote speaker.
SETA Foundation hosted a debate organized by Insight Turkey, a peer-reviewed quarterly in circulation since 1999, and entitled Regional and Global Energy Security: Turkey’s Role with the participation of the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources HE Taner Yıldız, CEO of SOCAR Turkey Kenan Yavuz and BP Turkey Country President Bud Fackrell.

Insight Turkey Debate III: A Debate on the Future of Iraqi Kurdistan: Between Survival and IndepenceThursday, October 25, 2012
A debate titled “The Future of Iraqi Kurdistan: Between Survival and Independence” was held with the participation of William Park (Kings College, London), Burak Bilgehan Özpek (TOBB University of Economics and Technology, Ankara) and Shwan Zulal (political analyst and energy consultant, London). The debate was moderated by İhsan Dağı, Editor-in-Chief of Insight Turkey journal. The speakers made the following presentations: “Turkey, the US and the KRG: Moving Parts and the Geopolitical Realities”; “Democracy or Partition: Future Scenarios for the Kurds of Iraq”; and “Survival Strategies and Diplomatic Tools: The Kurdistan Region’s Foreign Policy Outlook”.
In his opening remarks, Ihsan Dağı outlined the goal of the second Insight Turkey Debate and the plan to organize debates like this every three months after the current issue of the journal was published.
The Panel titled “Arab Spring, East Mediterranean and the Cyprus Issue” was held on May 12, 2012 at Nicosia TRNC in collaboration with Academy Cyprus. Deputy Prime Minister Prof. Beşir Atalay delivered the inauguration speech.
Second annual conference of Insight Turkey, an academic journal that has been in publication for the last 14 years, was held in Cairo with the participation of scholars and experts. The first conference, titled “Debating New Turkey” was held in Washington DC , and the second conference, titled “The Middle East After the Revolution: Arab and Turkish Insights” was held in Cairo on Monday, January 30th.
The “Turkish model” shows that people of the Middle East do not have to choose between an authoritarian government and an Islamist regime. There is a third option, which is a representative and accountable government with free and fair elections.
Insight Turkey held its first annual conference on December 3rd, 2010 in Washington, D.C. The one-day conference, composed of 3 separate panels with a total of 11 speakers, aimed to showcase and introduce the journal’s mission to international academics, politicians, and policy makers.
