This panel addresses the nexus between climate change and migration from different levels and diverse perspectives. The authors of three significant contributions to our final issue come together to discuss the effects of climate change on human mobility.  Irudaya Rajan will evaluate the role of inter-state migrants in the socio-economic profile of Kerala, which experienced one of its worst floods in 2018. Irudaya will also discuss the necessity to incorporate migrants as a priority in the migration policy discussions, particularly in light of the states’ extreme proneness to natural disasters. Haydar Karaman and Burak Güneş will elaborate on the impacts and relevance of international law and politics on climate refugees in the case of the Republic of Haiti, as well as recommending practical solutions for those displaced by environmental factors.

Last but not least, our guest speaker, Franck Düvell, is invited to talk about how is Europe dealing with the humanitarian crisis after the war in Ukraine? And respond to questions regarding the issue.

All in all, the panelists will be ushering in a new and insightful discussion about climate change and its effects on human mobility and displacement at national and international levels.

We hope these discussions will bring a fresh and useful perspective in understanding one of the biggest environmental challenges facing the world and its effects on humans.
